I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the USA. Ever since I was small, my true love has been fantasy and horror, starting with the Brothers Grimm, and escalating to Barker, Brom, Boris, and Brite. (and that's only the "B"s!) My house is crammed full with my collections, so when I decided to build a site, my hobby just sort of spilled out into cyberspace! It's been a blast to hear from so many people who like the same things as I do! I hadn't had any sort of info on here about me (--hey--I'm SHY!), so figured, why not?? Pictured with me are my two "good" beasties, Jake and Layla (Layla is the blonde.)- both gone now, but remembered fondly forever!! Let's see: details. I was born in 1950 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, but have lived in sunny Florida since 1959. Divorced, two grown-up, married daughters who have given me 4 beautiful grandchildren. I've worked at the same restaurant here since 1979, a family place called The Egg'N'You Diner. It's like a second home to me, and the people are like a second family, too! I'm the oldest of 8 children in my FIRST family, and so i do have an extensive family page, always in progress. I finally finished my Lord of the Rings section. I have loads of expansion plans for the site, so revisit occasionally. Thank you for visiting me, and even more for signing my guest-book! My favorite galleries are my Kindred Pages in horror. I just adore vicious bloodsucking vampires- always have. I also love the "romantic" ones, courtesy of Anne Rice, Chelsea Quinn Yarborough and Laurell K. Hamilton. And then White Wolf Publishing gave me "The Kindred", from their World of Darkness: Vampire the Masquerade, fiction with bite by horror authors such as Robert Weinberg,, Keith Herber, Gherbod Fleming, Doug Murray, Nancy Kilpatrick, Richard Dansky, etc. If you're unacquainted, I suggest reading an anthology, "City of Darkness: Unseen", edited by Erin Kelly and Stewart Wieck. It has short stories from all the World of Darkness areas ( Vampires, Werewolves (Garou), Mages, Wraiths, Changelings ) and is a great way to be introduced to the WOD universe! I am totally hooked on the Southern Vampire novels, by Charlaine Harris- hilarious horror? yes, it can be done, with the fantastic heroine, Sookie Stackhouse, who describes herself as "a terrible Christian, and a decent survivalist." Just excellent. The teen vampire series Twilight by Stephanie Meyers is another I enjoyed very much- thanx, Holly!! and the BlueBloods series by Melissa de la Cruz is another good one. (strike that- I hated the direction the 3rd book took in that series!) Look to the left-- one of the horror authors I mentioned, Pat Cadigan, wrote the absolute BEST vamp-slayer story ever, called "The Power and the Passion". One of my all-time favs in vampire fiction. Oops! Don't get me started on the subject of vampires...I'll never shut up! More about me? Or want a link to this site? Say hi anytime and interrogate me or give me URLs! e-mail Camarila. |
